The ocean is only 3km away and offers the most scenic views and the possibility of a swim. Our beaches can be reached by car (5 mins), by bicycle (10 mins) or by walking (30 mins). We have two local swimming places that we highly recommend:

Rörbäcks Brygga is our local swimming place which hosts a little sand beach, a jetty with swimming ladder, a picnic table, canoe hire and a kiosk run by our local entrepreneurial young girl Wilma who sells coffee, home baked buns, ice cream and traditional Swedish sweets.

Nystrand is a little idyllic swimming place located on the nearby mini fjord. It hosts a little sand beach, a jetty with a swimming ladder, a picnic table and benches.

FISKEBÄCKSKIL (Spa)
A quaint (less than 500 habitants) little fishing village at the mouth of the Gullmarnfjord. The Gullmarstrand Hotel, located in Fiskebäckskil has a beautiful spa right on the ocean with saunas, hot pools and the ability to go for an ocean dip. Tel +46 73 52 3667788

LYSEKIL
A lively summer resort with shops and restaurants, Lysekil has the most beautiful walk along the red granite cliffs (right at the edge of the ocean). The ferry across to Lysekil runs roughly every 20-30 minutes and is free of charge.

SMÖGEN
This quaint village with seafood restaurants and shop is one of the most popular villages on the west coast. Enjoy painted buildings & sea vistas as you stroll along the Smögenbryggan.

HUNNEBOSTRAND
Another beautiful and scenic fishing village with shops and restaurants and often stone carvings worth a visit. We recommend Bella Gästis for Swedish cuisine and delicious pizzas.

MARSTRAND
A stunning island in the archipelago Marstrand delivers on shops, restaurant and stunning scenery. Carlstens Fästing (Castle), a 17 century stone fortress is definitely worth a visit.

NORDENS ARK
A beautiful park with endangered animal species. Great for the whole family.

LISEBERG THEME PARK
A magical and oh so fun 100 year old theme park. A pride and joy of Gothenburg, this is a great day experience for all ages.

BOHUSLÄNS MUSEUM
Bohusläns museum offers a variety of public programs and exhibitions. On the first floor you´ll find temporary exhibitions, the art gallery, the hall of boats and a steamboat-themed playroom. On the second floor are permanent exhibitions where you can explore life, art and nature of Bohuslän and the city of Uddevalla

Kalvön (7,6km / 10 mins Drive)
Kalvön Nature Reserve is the most picturesque island nestled in the archipelago. With wild horses and sheep this little gem offers various lengths and difficulties of trails. Well sign posted with the green, blue and red trails this is a wonderful place connect with nature and the Swedish archipelago. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring your swimming gear, bring your own food & drink and soak up the magic of this nature reserve!

FISKEBÄCKSKIL (15km / 20 mins drive)
There are various stunning walking trails around the fishing village of Fiskebäckskil. Please check the trails book out for specific walks. The below google maps pin drop is for the parking lot from where various walks can be made.

HAFSTEN (15km / 17 mins drive)
Hafsten Resort offers some stunning nature trails as well as activities for the kids (bouncy castle, a small water park, and restaurant).

STALLGÅRDEN (12km / 15 mins drive)
Stallgården is a family-run ‘farm to fork’ restaurant dating back to the 1600s. Serving traditional Swedish food (vegan options available) it’s a great little place for lunch or the traditional Swedish Fika (coffee & buns). (11am – 6pm daily) Tel +46 73 522641416

BRYGGHUSET (15km / 20 mins drive)
Brygghuset is located in the quaint fishing village of Fiskebäckskil. Overlooking the fishing harbour it’s a restaurant among the salt scent, seaweed scent sea and waves. Bryggvingen Seafood Restaurant. (60 min drive)
Bryggvingen is a restaurant located on the island of Lyr on the southwest coast of Orust. Known for their fantastic location, fresh ingredients, and freshly caught fish, much of which they catch themselves with their fishing boat. Best restaurant in the area in our opinion.
